Dear friends and voters who understand the great value of our schools to Mount Vernon and the surrounding area,

Please, Vote “YES” on BOTH bond proposals!

The included picture of six football fields in our district show Mount Vernon’s field to be very inferior. This comparison is only a visual example of just ONE area in which we are behind in modernizing our facilities. Others areas include CRITICAL academic improvements AND, of

SUPREME IMPORTANCE, the security of our children. Keeping our children safe at school is THE MOST important responsibility that we have!

A “Yes” vote will help us modernize and fulfill our school’s responsibility for the safety of our students.

“Yes”, this is going to cost you and me some money. But good and valuable and necessary things cost money. These bonds represent good and valuable and necessary things.

Please join me in voting “Yes” because it’s the right and necessary thing to do. We must meet the needs of our students and catch back up to other quality districts.

I love Mount Vernon and Mount Vernon schools. I grew up here and went to school here. I graduated from Mount Vernon High School. For those of you whom I haven’t met, I had the privilege of serving as County Judge of Franklin County for five years and then I served Franklin and three other counties as District Judge for 20 years. After studying these bond proposals, I believe their passage would meet the critical needs of our facilities and insure our students’ safety.

Please help us meet the needs of this generation of students and future generations!

When I was in Mount Vernon Junior High football, sometimes on the bus on the way home from a football game and right before we got back to the school, our team would start a chant that went like this: “We’re from Mount Vernon and we’re just a little prouder. If you can’t hear us, we’ll yell a little louder.” And then we would repeat that chant several times getting louder each time.

That was over 60 years ago and I’m still proud to be from Mount Vernon.

Let’s make us all proud by voting “Yes” for both of these bonds. Let’s give our kids and our community something to “chant” about.
